Find best tires in Raleigh NC

Quite often the replacement of auto tires on your trusty car or a truck may become a hassle, simply because with all the current selection and choices out there you just have a hard time to go through everything and pick out the most suitable set of tires. Good starting point to consider anytime you go shopping for tires is what type of car tire you have to get. Tires usually are made for either wintertime, summer or all-season conditions. They vary by the pattern of the surface of the car tire and the chemical ingredients of the rubber and a few other internal characteristics. Having said that, you shouldn’t use winter tires during the summer and vice versa.

Consider this – winter season auto tires are created for temperatures under 9C, and when outdoors temperature is above that, they will likely become soft like a clay, and wear out much sooner. And whenever using summertime car tires in winter, they tend to harden very fast and start to feel like some sort of plastic material, therefore your car or truck can become tough to drive. All-season car tires are a form of a compromise among the other 2 types and therefore are generally put into use where local weather is moderate – but do remember that all-season tires are still not recommended for extreme weather conditions.

It is always best to consult with professional tire technician before making the final choice. Try these places in Raleigh NC that offer cheap, new, used and discount tire sets. We’ve included some of the local opinions about them that users from yelp.com shared:

Murray’s New & Used Tire Bargains

1202 S Saunders St
Raleigh, NC 27603

Cindy W: Awesome. Go here for your tires. Everyone is friendly and it was really fast. About the part of town – it’s a tire shop. Does it need to be in fancy land? No. I don’t see how this is relevant at all. It’s not a bad area just industrial, so don’t think you’re going to go shopping at Bloomingdales or something while getting a tire. Come on.

Discount Tire

444 E Six Forks Rd
Raleigh, NC 27609

Donna B: This is my third or fourth time buying tires from Discount Tire, and they never fail to impress. The folks seem to be nice at any of the locations, and they are good –and fast– at what they do.

I needed new tires for my little convertible, so I found a couple possible sets on their website, printed the price quote and took it with me to the store this morning without an appointment (though I could have made one online). They had the tires I wanted in stock, and I spent about 45 minutes at the Borders bookstore across the parking lot while they were installed. They called me, as promised, when finished and I strolled back across the lot and drove her away — what a difference!

The price was great — I chose a nice tire with good grip and way-reduced road noise, and I also opted for the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) rebuild as well as the replacement certificates. Now, normally I don’t buy those “warranty” types of things; however, in 15 years (YEARS!!) of living in Charlotte I only picked up one nail in my tires. I’ve lived in Raleigh for only 15 months (MONTHS!!), and have already picked up TWO!! So, to me it’s worth it. I still got out of there for less than $700 — tires, installation, TPMS rebuild kit, certificates, NC-required disposal fees, NC sales tax, etc.

They do free rotating and balancing for life while you own the car. Additionally, they will rotate the tires of your family and friends just because you’re their customer. And that’s for any Discount Tire location in America, not only where you bought the tires. Go here for tires!!

Firestone Tire & Service Centers

333 S Dawson St
Raleigh, NC 27601
(919) 821-2500

Lee B: I bought my last set of tires at this location and I’ve returned several times for tire rotation and oil changes. The lobby is comfortable and the design of the building, an “ell”, allows viewing of the repair bays. The prices are comparable and the staff is professional

Merchant’s Tire & Auto Centers

1800 E Millbrook Rd
Raleigh, NC 27609
(919) 954-8388

Elizabeth G: I went here to have the vibration in my tire diagnosed and fixed. They told me that I needed an alignment and everything would be just dandy. Well, after over $100 and a few hours of
waiting, I get my car back and it still had the vibration. They wanted to do more tests and balancing at more cost, but I was hesitant to give them more money when they didn’t even figure it out the first time. it turned out to be a rim that was damaged. This was figured out by another shop and I’m really mad that I wasted $100 at Merchant’s.

Harrison Automotive

Raleigh, NC 27603
(919) 831-0208

Julia H: Excellent mechanics! For everything from routine maintenance to ‘OH MY GOD WHAT JUST FELL OFF THE CAR?’ emergencies, we’ve always had perfect service and repairs with the Harrison crew. Aside from the honest, fair pricing and stand-by-their-work ethics, another thing I appreciate is how they never treat me differently than my husband. Only one us will happily discuss the beauty of a 164 E or the relative merits of the 700 series versus the 900 series. . .and they know it isn’t my husband! No ‘talking down to the little lady’ here, just trustworthy service from mechanics who know and love all things Volvo.
